Nellie Bly Magic Lantern Show

About the event

Join us for an enchanting Magic Lantern Program celebrating the adventurous spirit of Nellie Bly—a trailblazing investigative journalist renowned for her incredible journey around the world in just 72 days, surpassing Phileas Fogg’s fictional record from Around the World in Eighty Days! 🌍

The Magic Lantern, invented in the 17th century by Dutch scientist Christiaan Huygens, is recognized as the first projector and served as a fascinating form of entertainment for centuries.

This captivating program will be led by Dawn Elliott and Joel Schlemowitz, skilled magic lantern performers utilizing original slides and projectors. Not only will you witness an incredible show, but you will also enjoy an engaging lecture and demonstration by these talented artists, who frequently collaborate with museums and educational institutions.

🕖 Gates open at 7:30 PM — arrive early to visit the grave of Nellie Bly! ✨ You'll also find interactive toys from her time and light snacks available. Don’t forget to bring a chair or a blanket for your comfort!
