New Regency Orchestra
Join Us for an Electrifying Evening!
The New Regency Orchestra is set to headline the second show of our summer jazz series, shining a spotlight on the vibrant London jazz scene. This incredible 18-piece Afro-Cuban big band draws inspiration from the musical melting pot of 1950s NYC while embracing the rich talent of London's best Latin and jazz musicians.
Expect to be transported back to a golden era of jazz, where legends like Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker collaborated with iconic Cuban artists such as Machito and Chano Pozo. The band revitalizes classic tracks from early maestros like René Hernandez and Tito Puente, right through to the salsa sounds of the 1970s from Rafael Labasta and Orlando Marin.
Also on stage will be the talented Joe Bristow (known for his work with SEED Ensemble, Balimaya Project, Black Midi, and Olivia Dean), with even more acts to be announced!
Supported by an Arts Council England grassroots music grant, we are dedicated to promoting emerging artists and live music within our community. Plus, our event supports the Lewisham Donation Hub, a local charity that provides essential assistance to those facing hardships in South East London.
Gather your family for a laid-back summer vibe in the largest pub garden in SE London, featuring delicious street food, refreshing drinks, and activities for kids including market stalls and entertainment. Children enjoy free entry! 🌞
