An interactive, playful yet thought-provoking talk in which Adam Kolář, a language designer, shares his love for the Czech language—a language he has nurtured since childhood, and whose seed lies within each of us. And he seeks out these seeds and waters them (sometimes even fertilizing them generously).

For him, the Czech language is a home he always carries with him, one that warms him even when he is alone. Even as a child, he would shut himself away with a notebook and experiment with what Mother Czech could endure—how he could twist her right from the root, bend her with prefixes and suffixes (and not forget the ending!), or how he could poetically caress her and soothe his own soul and those of others.
The lecture will tickle your brain, caress your heart, and tickle your funny bone. All you need is wit, openness, and a seed of love for the expansiveness and diversity of the Czech language.

Adam Kolář is a word designer and poet who fell into a cauldron of words when he was still a boy. After attending an English-language high school, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Dutch and Russian philology, only to discover that he truly loves the Czech language.
