Oneida + Střešovická kramle
Experimental psychedelia of New York art-rock mainstays Oneida returns to Prague.
An eclectic blend of minimalist krautrock, free jazz, garage psychedelia and noise; seventeen studio albums and hundreds of high-energy live shows all around the world: since their formation in the second half of the 90s, Oneida have become one of the pillars of Brooklyn's alternative music. Their close ties to the local arts scene has shaped both the band’s sound and aesthetics from the very beginning – along with gritty rock clubs, Oneida have also performed in established cultural institutions such as MoMA PS1 and the Guggenheim Museum.
The band has been known for extended live improvisational performances, collaborating onstage with Mike Watt, members of Flaming Lips, Portishead, Boredoms, Yo La Tengo, Dead C, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and many others. Oneida first played in the Czech Republic in 2009 at the premiere edition of Creepy Teepee festival. This May, they return to Prague, bringing their new album Expensive Air, released last summer on their home label Joyful Noise.
"As a band that’s known for their spontaneity and charisma on stage, if this new album tells us anything, it’s that it’s sure to go off in a live setting." — The Quietus
The night will open with Střešovická kramle. The singular Prague-based audiovisual collective operates at the crossroads of genres – from post-underground, punk, noise hardcore and metal to electronica, witch techno and cabaret. One of the pillars of the Czech underground scene, with roots stretching all the way back to the late eighties, the band brings a sharp streak of irony to its reflections on current social and environmental issues. They played at MeetFactory back in 2023 alongside Wine Lips, now returning after three years to support Oneida.
