Opening: Lisa Nyberg, Utantill/By Heart
Join us for the grand opening of “Utantill/By Heart” by Lisa Nyberg! 🎨
This exhibition delves into the rich tradition of oral storytelling and origin stories, showcasing how these narratives transcend written words, rooted in both folk and indigenous practices. Oral exchanges allow us to navigate beyond institutional histories, enabling us to explore tale weaving that stretches across time and cultures.
Through an intriguing installation featuring tapestries and props, Lisa invites everyone to not only reflect on oral storytelling but to engage in it. Enhance your imagination and partake in the art of collective myth-making! 🌌
Nyberg's journey into oral storytelling is inspired by Swedish and Sámi folk traditions, blending artistic expression with pedagogy. As a multi-faceted artist and educator, she seeks to illuminate the connections between knowledge and art, exploring how creative practices can deepen our understanding of the world.
Her body of work includes performances, installations, workshops, and educational initiatives aimed at fostering radical pedagogy. Nyberg also serves as an Associate Professor at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, deepening her impact on culture and art. 🎓
Curated by roda – soft water on hard stone (Katarina Stenbeck and Carla Zaccagini), this exhibition is part of The Glossary of Wisdom and World Making.
