Parallel Horizons: Preservation and Urban Regeneration in Hong Kong & Berlin
What do we truly preserve when a city evolves—is it concrete architecture, or a collective way of life?
Stepping beyond Hong Kong, encountering Berlin! This cross-cultural dialogue features Hong Kong architect Don Hong, initiator of preserving Choi Hung Estate, and Berlin-based architect Cherry Cheung, who brings firsthand experience in Berlin’s radical adaptive reuse projects. Together, they lead a comparative exploration of public housing, modernist heritage, and places for all. While Hong Kong navigates intense density and land value pressures, Berlin pioneers deep citizen participation and future-oriented circular construction. Beyond nostalgia, preservation is an active contribution for sustainability. Join us to rethink who decides the future of our urban spaces.
