About the event

Join a group of people into serious meditation practice. Pragmatic Dharma is a lineage that is inclusive of the many forms of Buddhist practices and we test and use what works. We believe awakening is real and we do it together.
Come for our second session. There meditation practice, Q&A, and also time to get to know each other:
Meditation Practice (30-40 min): Silent group sit, guided meditation, or optional peer-to-peer "social meditation" (participants can always choose to meditate silently)
Dharma Talk/Teaching (20-30 min): Discussion of meditation techniques, contemplative practices, or aspects of Buddhist philosophy
Community Discussion (20-30 min): Informal sharing of experiences and questions
Structure:
This event is donation based with a suggested donation of $15, or a minimum of $10 (facility fee), or $20 to support facilitators via venmo or zelle.
Open to all levels—from complete beginners to experienced practitioners Non-sectarian approach drawing from multiple meditation traditions

-People seeking to establish or deepen a regular practice

About the Teachers:
Zulu Padilla is a queer Colombian-American interdisciplinary artist and dharma teacher, authorized in the Pragmatic Dharma lineage. He graduated from the Buddhist Geeks Teacher Training in 2024 and specializes in "Social Meditation"—an interpersonal practice that brings mindfulness into collective awareness.
Tim Hwang has practiced meditation for over 15 years and is a licensed occupational therapist and certified mindfulness meditation teacher. He works in the NYC Public School system and has studied extensively in Insight, Pragmatic Dharma, and Chan/Zen traditions. He serves on the board of the New York Insight Meditation Center and has received dharma transmission from in the Pragmatic Dharma lineage and a certified mindfulness meditation teacher. He is a mindfulness-based coach helping others integrate mindfulness and bring it to their personal and professional life. www.timhwang.co
