Sew and Tell: A Dhaka-Inspired Applique and Embroidery Workshop

About the event

Join the talented artist Anney Bounpraseuth for an inspiring and hands-on embroidery workshop that revives traditional techniques with a modern flair! ✨ This beginner-friendly session allows you to explore the vibrancy and beauty of Dhaka textiles from Nepal through bold colors and geometric patterns. No previous experience necessary and all materials are provided!

During this engaging workshop, you will:

  • Learn to design unique shapes using simple tools.
  • Layer and combine fabrics with innovative appliqué techniques.
  • Add finishing touches with basic decorative stitching. 🎉

This program connects to our permanent exhibition ‘Woven from a Hundred Flowers,’ bridging art and storytelling beautifully. To learn more about the exhibition, visit Georges River Council - Woven from a Hundred Flowers.

Feel free to bring along a small piece of non-stretch fabric, such as an old shirt, to personalize your artwork!
