Om evenemanget

Eva Priečková/False Move invites you to four weeks full of dance research, interpersonal and "more than human" relationships, relaxation, gravity, and lightness through sensitive listening, collective thinking, and movement.

Organizer's text:

togethering. listening. storytelling. right to play

The event is for anyone interested in exploring dance and movement in and around us. No previous experience is necessary, but a certain curiosity to explore the unknown is welcome. The space is not fully wheelchair accessible. If you need assistance, please contact eva.prieckova@gmail.com

"How we behave on a small scale is how we behave on a large scale." Adrienne Maree Brown

Soft Core is a metaphor for resistance against a strong and stable center. How can softness, gentleness, or weakness be a creative inspiration? Soft Core is a collective movement education that emancipates embodied sensory experience as equal knowledge of the body and mind. It does not shy away from critical thinking, play, or experimentation. It is reflection, contemplation, and immersion in the exploration of movement, but also the shedding of coats and the breaking free from the shackles of everyday life. At the same time, Soft Core asks: What shapes our individual and collective bodies, and how? Personal experiences, social relationships, or global challenges? How can we remain aware of these challenges without becoming reactive, but rather responsive? Can dance help with this?

Soft Core can be disoriented, crooked, falling, tired, and paralyzed by the world around it. We will use improvisation as an antidote to prescribed thinking and, without excessive romanticization, we will try to find mutuality through movement that is not predetermined, often spinning in circles and without a clear direction—false movement. However, we will try to find the ability to act in this movement.

It is a safe space that tries not to offer a single template, a silent discipline. It is a safe space where things can fail, but then be recreated in mutual dialogue. It is a space where we actively work with consent, trust, and a constant search for mutual care. Listening remains essential.

Soft Core is initiated and facilitated by Eva Priečková in collaboration with the Telocvičňa space. Since 2015, it has been hosting movement education for people of various movement experiences and skills. Participants come from different professions and backgrounds. Eva strives to offer a kind of horizontal line.

Eva Priečková

Eva Priečková (Berlin, Bratislava) is an interdependent dance artist and facilitator of dance education at Študovňa – Soft Core. She earned her master's degree at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. As Eva Priečková (False Move), she organizes workshops, lectures, and events that combine embodied movement experience with critical thinking about the body and relationships. She is interested in dance in various groups, ecosomatics, rituals of mourning and celebration, learning movement within and around oneself, as well as dance outside the dance hall. Eva facilitates movement courses for various groups of people – social workers, the Roma minority, and older people. She is interested in the potential of dance education for social justice, interpersonal responsibility, and emancipation from the unconscious repetition of normative behavior. For her, dance is an act of the impossibility of taming bodies, of curious observation of the world around us, of imagination, fear, sensitive listening, and everything that cannot be expressed in words. She is currently a doctoral student at JAMU in Brno.
