About the event

The opening concert of the 2026 St. John's Organ Cycle will offer a particularly varied program performed by the brothers Pavel
and Jan Verner and organist Linda Sítková. Cellist Pavel Verner, a member of the National Theatre Orchestra or the Apollon
Quartet, and his brother Jan Verner, a leading Czech trumpeter, form an exceptionally artistically mature duo, playing
arrangements of mainly classical musical works from all stylistic periods. Linda Sítková will not only accompany both colleagues,
but will also demonstrate her mastery of solo organ pieces. We will hear, for example, the famous virtuoso Finale of the
Second Symphony by the French composer L. Vierne. The opening concert of the cycle is always held on the occasion of the
feast day of the patron saint of the Church of St. John of Nepomuk. At this time of spring, it is also possible to admire the
beauty of the adjacent rock garden plants.

Programme:

  • Georg Friedrich Händel (1685–1759): Ouverture | from Suite D Major for trumpet and organ
  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791) Laudate Dominum | for trumpet, violoncello and organ
  • Max Bruch (1838 - 1920) Kol Nidrei | for violoncello and organ
  • Louis Vierne (1870–1937) Symfonia No. 2 e minor | op. 20, selection - 5. Final
  • And more. (The complete program is on the Bach-Collegium Prague website.)
