Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and embark on a magical evening walk from the royal gardens of Tervuren, through the enchanting Sonian Forest, concluding at the stunning Rouge Cloître.
This hike is ideal for anyone looking to relax, breathe in some fresh forest air, and enjoy the beautiful colors of the golden hour.
🗺️ The Route
We will kick off at Tervuren Station (the terminus of Tram 44). Our journey begins in the formal gardens and ponds of Tervuren Park, where we can enjoy magnificent sunset reflections on the water.
From there, we will delve into the Sonian Forest (Fôret de Soignes), walking beneath the majestic beech canopy. We will stroll through the magnificent Arboretum, showcasing centennial trees and impressive Giant Sequoias.
The path gently descends toward the historic Rouge Cloître, a 14th-century Augustinian priory nestled at the forest's edge, where we’ll take a well-deserved break for a drink.
🕒 The Plan

• Meeting Time: 14:50
• Meeting Point: Just outside Tervuren Station (Terminus of Tram 44).
• The Walk: We depart at 15:00 sharp.
• Arrival: We aim to reach Rouge Cloître around 18:00 - 18:30.
• Après-Walk: We often enjoy a drink at the beautiful Maison du Prieur in Rouge Cloître.

• Distance: Approximately 12 km.
• Duration: ~3.5 hours of walking time.
• Pace: Casual to moderate. We wait for everyone, but please ensure you're comfortable walking this distance.
• Terrain: Mostly flat/downhill with some unpaved forest trails.

• Comfortable Shoes: Walking shoes or sneakers (trail runners are great if it's rained recently).
• Water: Stay hydrated!
• Layers: Evenings in the forest can get chilly.
