The Great East Clare Hill Challenge 2026

Get ready to push your limits on The Great East Clare Hill Challenge! 🌄 This demanding 30KM hill hike is designed for the adventurous spirit, traversing rugged terrain, including bogland, that will truly test your endurance. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of East Clare.

Starting at Two Mile Gate, Killaloe, you'll set off to conquer the summit of Moylussa (532M) and traverse the scenic Slieve Bearnagh, passing by the enchanting Enchanted Lake. Following a well-earned break in Broadford village (with access to a shop, café, and toilets), gear up for the second leg, which includes a challenging ascent up Hurdlestown, leading to the iconic 12 O’Clock Hills (309M).

⚠️ Important Requirements:

• Hiking boots are mandatory; runners/trainers are strictly not permitted due to bogland sections.
• A good level of fitness is essential, as this strenuous hike will take approximately 8 hours to complete.

📅 Facilities: A public toilet will be available at the registration point. Please note, this will be the last toilet you will encounter until Broadford.

🛡️ Mandatory Gear: Boots with ankle support are required for all participants to ensure safety. Anyone struggling with the initial Moylussa hill climb will not be permitted to continue – this can be addressed during registration.
