Discover a unique exhibition at the Naval Museum in Gdynia showcasing original naval weaponry from the 20th century! 🎖️
Dive into history as you explore exhibits dismantled from Polish Navy ships, featuring incredible artifacts such as:
- A double 40 mm Bofors anti-aircraft cannon from the submarine Sęp
- A famous 20 mm Oerlikon cannon from ORP Blyskawica
- A double 13.2 mm Hotchkiss HMG salvaged from the wreck of Gryf
These captivating relics reveal a poignant story, including a fragment of a flag with an eagle, salvaged from ORP Gryf, along with brass letters from the ship's name and the original lifebelt.
The exhibition also highlights underwater weapons, such as German-designed torpedoes and the French SM 5 naval mine, used by Polish submarines in September 1939. An eye-catching British Thornycroft depth bomb thrower used by the destroyer ORP Blyskawica adds to the collection.
Among the standout exhibits is the world-renowned German bombotorpedo from the BT 1000 RS series, a revolutionary combination of bombs and aerial torpedoes. Completing the collection are post-war anti-aircraft guns, depth bomb throwers, and an impressive P 21 anti-ship missile, once integral to the Tarantul-class corvettes of the Polish fleet! 🌊💣
