About the event
The works composed by Antonio Vivaldi — the red-headed priest and violin teacher at the Venetian orphanage Ospedale — for his girls’ ensemble enjoyed such great popularity in his time that the concerts of this mysterious orchestra became legendary, attracting music lovers from all over Europe. This had a significant influence on composers working at the Saxon court in Dresden, where the orchestra was also regarded as one of the finest in Europe.
