WORKSHOP: Blockchain for NGOs - Delivering Measurable Impact
The funding gap for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) stands at an astounding four trillion dollars each year. 🚀
Organizations like WFP's Building Blocks have already facilitated cash transfers for over a million refugees, while UNICEF's CHATS platform has reduced humanitarian transfer costs by 20%. Furthermore, UNDP's Stellar partnership is active in sixteen countries. Clearly, blockchain can address specific challenges, but other problems may require different solutions. Impact reporting needs accuracy, beneficiary identity must be kept private, and improper allocation of funds only exacerbates the existing gap.
In the past six months, the Nordic Blockchain Association has collaborated closely with several Danish NGOs to explore practical applications of blockchain technology in everyday processes. 🌍
At NBC2026, we will build on this work through a closed-door workshop intended for NGOs, focusing on how blockchain can enhance funding transparency, digital identity management, climate accountability, and cross-border coordination. 🔗
Workshop Highlights:
- Implementation Lessons
- Governance Safeguards
- Partnership Models between NGOs and Technology Foundations
Featuring Speakers:
- Burcu Marvis: Blockchain Academy and Accelerator Lead at UNDP Regional Hub for Europe and Central Asia, UNDP AltFinLab
