🎾 Free Park Tennis Volunteer Open Day – Belair Park

Are you passionate about tennis and want to give back to your community? Join us at Belair Park Tennis Courts on Saturday 16 May 2026 for an Open Day aimed at anyone curious about becoming a Free Park Tennis Activator across Southwark's parks!

We're actively recruiting volunteers for the following parks:

🌳 Burgess Park
🌳 Southwark Park
🌳 Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park (also referred to as Geraldine Mary Harsworth in some communications)
🌳 Brunswick Park
🌳 Dulwich Park
🌳 Belair Park

📅 Schedule for the Day

9:30am – 10:00am | Welcome session & Q&A with existing volunteers

10:00am – 11:00am | Observe and participate in a live Free Park Tennis session

👟 What to Bring

Please arrive in sports attire and bring your tennis racket — spare rackets will also be available if needed.

🤝 What Does a Free Park Tennis Volunteer Do?

Volunteers collaborate to plan and lead enjoyable on-court activities, working alongside venues and operators to encourage more people to get active and discover tennis through free weekly sessions across the borough.

⏱️ How Much Time Does It Take?

Completely up to you! Whether it's once a week, once a month, or whenever your diary allows — it's flexible. Sessions take place across Southwark at Burgess Park, Belair Park, Southwark Park, Dulwich Park, and Geraldine Mary Harsworth on Saturdays or Sundays at 10am. Each session requires two volunteers to support up to 16 players across two courts.

📋 Do I Need to Prepare Anything?

Not at all — just show up ready to play! However, if you'd like a head start, you can set up an account at the LTA Free Park Tennis volunteer page to begin your online training, safeguarding course, and DBS process. The earlier you complete training, the sooner you'll be out on the courts!
