Key Highlights:

• Fasting on Ashura: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the importance of fasting on this day as a means of atonement for the previous year's sins (Sahih Muslim).
• Additional Fast: To set apart this practice from that of the Jewish tradition, fasting on an additional day, either the 9th or 11th of Muharram, is also encouraged (Sahih Muslim).
