85th Annual Spring Concert - Queens College Choral Society

Join us for an enchanting evening filled with musical excellence featuring the Queens College Orchestra, Vocal Ensemble, and Treble Choir under the direction of James John. This year's program presents:

• David Stern - Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass: Cantata for Soprano Solo, Chorus and Orchestra (World Premiere)
• Gabriel Fauré - Requiem

Walt Whitman, who taught in a one-room schoolhouse located on the grounds of present-day Queens College, is celebrated through Stern’s new cantata, which captures the universality of Whitman's poignant words with ethereal, intimate, and profoundly joyful music. Additionally, Fauré's Requiem, a cherished masterpiece in the choral-orchestral repertoire, brings a sense of grandeur and warmth that is deeply comforting.

Together, these remarkable works provide a heartfelt exploration into the mysteries of the human soul.
