AI Workshop for Beginners: Private ChatGPT Experience on Your Own Computer - Running AI Locally

Ever feel uneasy about sharing too much personal info with ChatGPT/Gemini/Claude? Want to get AI's help without giving Big Tech full access to your private life? 🤔 This workshop is perfect for you!

Earlier this year, a breakthrough allows us to run AI capable of being private assistants on our own computers and laptops!

This hands-on workshop is designed for AI beginners who find setting up agents with OpenClaw intimidating. You’ll get a ChatGPT-like experience while keeping all your private information on your own device – no coding or command line required!

What we'll cover:

• Setting up Jan (an open-source ChatGPT-like interface) and running powerful open-source AI models of your choice on your own computer.
• Understanding key concepts for running AI locally, from the importance of open-source AI to tokens, context, model quantization, MCP tool servers, and more.
• Answering your questions to build your confidence in discussing AI concepts and news developments impacting the field.

🔧 Bring your laptop and be ready to download and install some AI!

System Requirements:

• The more RAM your computer has, the better. It’s now possible to run advanced AI with just 16GB of RAM. If you have 8GB, you can still run impressive, albeit less powerful models, and are welcome to attend!

To maximize efficiency, please download and install Jan (jan.ai) along with the recommended AI model before the event. During the workshop, you’ll discover better models to replace the default Jan model.
