Beyond Alliance & GMA Scope 3 Buyers Bootcamp
Corporate climate leaders are facing the challenge of decarbonizing Scope 3 emissions across their value chains. These emissions are often the most complex to measure and mitigate, yet they represent the largest share of most companies' carbon footprints.
Market-based mechanisms (MBMs), including book and claim systems and mass balance certificates, have emerged as critical tools for credible decarbonization at scale.
The landscape for MBMs is evolving rapidly:
- SBTi has released its Corporate Net-Zero Standard (CNZS) V2, updating guidance on the role of MBMs in corporate climate strategies.
- The GHG Protocol's Actions and Market Instruments (AMI) Standard is advancing, offering clarity on how companies can account for and report on MBM-related activities.
- The Advanced and Indirect Mitigation (AIM) Platform is building consensus around high-integrity frameworks for MBM deployment, helping companies navigate claims, reporting, and assurance amid significant regulatory and standards uncertainty.
Co-hosted by the Beyond Alliance and the Center for Green Market Activation, this half-day session builds on the success of last year’s Scope 3 Buyers Bootcamp at New York Climate Week. It is designed to support companies exploring or expanding their use of activity-aligned market-based approaches to accelerate Scope 3 decarbonization. Participants will gain practical knowledge, strategic guidance, and peer connections to move from interest to action.
