Cardmaking Meetup at Joy for Seniors

Come make cards with us at the annual Joy for Seniors exhibition!

Give yourself a moment to escape into a world of creativity, featuring artwork by local seniors, family-friendly arts activities, live entertainment, and a special cardmaking station for our Hello by Hand community initiative.

This is a family-friendly venue and events. All ages are welcome. No arts experience required. Cardmaking supplies will be provided.

What's the exhibition?
The exhibition is the culminating annual event of the Joy for Seniors program, and it features artwork by local seniors and disabled older adults, created under the guidance of professional local artists. This year's theme celebrates the city of Austin.
The exhibition is free and open to the public, with donations welcome to support the Joy for Seniors initiative.

Where's the cardmaking?
We'll have a cardmaking station onsite at the exhibition, which will be held inside the ballroom at Asian American Resource Center.

About the Venue:
Accessible venue with designated parking spots, accessible sidewalks, entryways, doors, restrooms. Free parking onsite at the venue or a two block walk away in the overflow lot at the corner of Cameron Rd and Rutherford Ln.

Do I need to bring supplies?
We'll have plenty of supplies on hand, including blank cards, markers, stickers, washi tape, scissors, glue, and other scrapbooking materials. Feel free to bring along items from your stash if you'd like to add any special touches to your cards!

Who will receive the cards?
Your card will end up in the hands of an isolated senior living in a nursing home right here in Austin.

We collect cards year-round to distribute to seniors living in long-term care facilities in Central Texas. Facilities can reach out to us to request cards for the residents, and we recruit volunteers to hand deliver them.
