Contemplative Cartography Workshop: Make a Map

Join Artist in Residence Lada Dedić for a unique and collaborative artistic experience that embraces community, creativity, and our connection to place! 🌍✨
During a series of drop-in sessions at various locations, you’ll have the chance to contribute to a large-scale abstract map alongside the artist. Each participant will take part by decorating a small 10 x 10 cm area of the map, utilizing a variety of materials and unleashing their creative spirit.
These pieces will be woven together to create a vibrant collective artwork that showcases the diversity and identity of our community. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity! 🖌️💡
This relaxed, open activity welcomes everyone, and the final artwork will be displayed at Hurstville Museum & Gallery as part of a special event, where Lada Dedić will share her insights into the artistic process. Plus, participants will have the opportunity to take home a small section of the completed artwork as a keepsake! 🖼️
Important Note: Children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.
Lada Dedić is known for her wandering thoughts and practices, often exploring themes of meditative contemplation, the intersection of science and art, and playful cartography. With a unique approach to direction, she creates unconventional maps sure to lead even the most seasoned navigator on unexpected journeys. 🌌
