Cyanotype Sun Prints with Frida Rodriguez

🌞 Join us for a perfect summer afternoon exploring the art of cyanotype! Create stunning blue prints using sunlight.

✨ In this session, artist Frida Rodriguez will inspire us while we experiment with cyanotyping both images and found objects. If you're unfamiliar, cyanotype is a sustainable printing method that captures images of 2D and 3D objects on paper using UV rays. Check out our Pinterest board for examples!

📸 Before the session, send in a photo of your choice for Frida to turn into a transparency film for you to print with. Each person will leave with up to two 9x12 cyanotype prints and everything you need to know to do it again!

🖌️ What we'll demo:

• Preparing paper for cyanotype prints
• Properly prepping your images for cyanotype printing

🌈 What you'll learn:

• Composing your cyanotypes
• Exposing your cyanotypes
• Washing and treating your prints

💡 We'll also cover creative ways to transform your prints once they dry. Each guest will get the opportunity to leave with a set of buttons to add a button frame to their piece once it dries at home!

🌦️ Please note, this event is not weather-dependent. In case of cloudy or rainy weather, we will expose your prints with a UV lamp!

🛠️ All materials are provided. Feel free to bring items from home to experiment with, such as dried flowers, keys, textiles, etc!

🥤 Complimentary beverages will be provided, and snacks will be available for purchase.

You’ll leave with a unique, handmade piece for yourself or as a sweet gift. This is not a highly technical workshop— our focus is on craft, self-expression, and creative empowerment!

📍 Getting Here: 20 Grand Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11205, USA — located on the 6th floor of a commercial building. When you arrive, buzz #604, push to open, and take the elevator up to 6. Take a right out of the elevator and a left at the end of the hallway; the door will be the first on your right.
