What is Electro Dance?

Electro dance burst onto the scene in the early 2000s at the iconic club Metropolis in Paris. This energetic style is primarily arm-based and blends elements of hip-hop, vogue, glowsticking, disco, and popping into a vibrant flow.

What is Tecktonik?

Often confused with Electro, Tecktonik was the name of the parties at Metropolis. While the term gained commercial popularity, the dance community insisted on calling it Electro, the true name of the movement. Tecktonik was merely the brand that helped Electro gain visibility.

Why Should You Try Electro?

If you’re looking to add some excitement to your EDM events beyond simply standing still, Electro is the perfect outlet! This dance style offers a fantastic workout, combining cardio with creativity. It’s ideal whether you want to escape the typical gym routine or just require a novel way to express yourself.

Class Structure

Half of the time is instructional, covering foundational moves with warm-ups, drills, and brief choreography. The other half is an open session, allowing for practice, socializing, and individual instruction.

Admission

The class operates on a donation basis. Contribute what you can to show appreciation—there's no pressure if finances are tight.

Studio Guidelines

• Bring a water bottle (filtered water is available).
• No outdoor shoes in the studio; indoor, non-marking shoes are permitted.
• Respect the space—no smoking, vaping, or strong scents allowed.

• Tuesdays 7:30 - 9 PM @ Shift Movement and Healing Arts (3517 Stone Way N, Seattle, WA 98103)
• Fridays 6:30 - 8 PM @ Dance Fremont (8420 Greenwood Ave N, 2nd Floor, Seattle, WA 98103)
