Fauré Requiem

Sobre el evento

Experience the celestial harmonies and inspiring voices in a concert that transports you from reflection to renewal through the beloved Requiem by Gabriel Fauré.

In a world yearning for tranquility and connection, River City Voices invites you to pause, breathe, and feel uplifted by the transcendent power of choral music. 🌌 This exceptional concert offers whispers of peace, enveloping audiences in an evening filled with choral beauty, reflection, and hope.

At the heart of the program is the timeless Requiem in D minor (1890), a masterpiece celebrated for its serenity and luminous essence. Unlike other dramatic settings, Fauré’s composition gracefully embraces themes of peace and eternal rest, culminating in the ethereal In Paradisum. This radiant music guides listeners towards comfort and renewal rather than dwelling in darkness.

Under the guidance of Guest Conductor Dr. Philip Eames, accompanied by Oscar Balle-Bowness, River City Voices features exceptional vocalists such as soprano Ayako Ohtake and baritone Benjamin Caukwell. Internationally acclaimed organist Simon Nieminski will command the magnificent organ at St Patrick’s Cathedral.

The program also highlights works by renowned composers, including Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, Joseph Romeo, and Australian composer Alice Chance, along with First Nations composer Nicole Smede, all echoing themes of harmony, humanity, and hope—promising a warmth of sound that lingers long after the final note.

🌟 Don’t miss this enchanting experience, performed at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta in association with Riverside Theatres.
