For Finn Wolfhard, music has always been an instinctual outlet. His 2025 solo debut, Happy Birthday, showcased his personal songwriting voice. With his upcoming 2026 album, Fire From The Hip, he broadens his scope while maintaining a personal touch.

Wolfhard shares, “When I was on tour for my last album, I had such an amazing time playing with my friends who are also my backing band. I wanted the new songs to capture the same energy of our live shows.”

The new record explores themes of nostalgia, uncertainty, and the turbulence of growing up, reflecting an artist in transition. Wolfhard emphasizes, “Nostalgia is a big factor for me when writing. Music is universal and can be shared with each other.”

Inspired by albums like Exile on Main Street and Beggars Banquet, he embraces a collaborative sound that favors spontaneity. The recording process utilized 24-track reel-to-reel tape, giving the album a warm, analog feel.

Most of Fire From The Hip was built from full-band live takes, resulting in immediate and connected performances. The album features a cohesive narrative about change and self-perception, highlighted by the track “Nice to Meet You Again.”

Returning to Vancouver played a significant role in shaping the record, grounding its introspection in a familiar place. Each release captures who Wolfhard is at a specific moment, with Fire From The Hip marking his evolution as an artist.
