Join us for an engaging workshop focused on the art of Flash Fiction led by Boise City Writer-in-Residence Don Zancanella! ✨
This free workshop invites writers of all levels and genres to explore the joy of crafting very short stories, known as flash fiction. 💭
Date: July 25, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Location: Erma Hayman House, 617 Ash Street, Boise, ID 83702.

During this hands-on session, participants will dive into the essentials of brevity, focus, and precision. Don will guide the group in drafting multiple short pieces, while sparking discussions on what gives flash fiction its impact and how the constraints of the form can ignite creativity. 📝
By the workshop's conclusion, you'll walk away with brief pieces that are either ready or nearly ready to be shared with the world!

Don Zancanella is a celebrated author, known for his novels Concord, A Storm in the Stars, and Animals of the Alpine Front. He has received prestigious awards including the John S. Simmons/Iowa Short Fiction Award and an O. Henry Prize. With a wealth of experience from teaching at the University of New Mexico, Don resides in southeast Boise with his wife and their dogs. 🐶

About the Boise City Writer-in-Residence:
This program, initiated in 2023, is a collaboration between the Boise City Department of Arts & History, Boise Public Library, and The Cabin. It supports local writers through six-month residencies that offer dedicated time and stipends to enhance their creative practices while connecting them with the community through free literary events. 📚
