Join us at the Green Between, a tranquil urban oasis in the heart of Portola, for a unique engagement in civic care. 🌍

Part 1 | Tending: Public Space Cleanup (9-10:30 AM)
As a volunteer, contribute to the rejuvenation of this regenerative urban greenway park, complemented by meditation and creative exercises focused on instilling care. Drawing inspiration from the Zen practice of soji (掃除), we’ll practice mindful cleaning to connect with our senses, bodies, and surroundings. Organized in collaboration with One City Day SF.

Part 2 | Visioning: Creative Contemplation (10:30 AM - 12 PM)
Participants will be encouraged to paint care stones and articulate care stories, crafting meaningful artifacts to take with them or leave in the park. Engaging in creative prompts, attendees will envision what care signifies for them—both as givers and receivers, present and future. A blend of still and moving meditation will help everyone ground themselves in place. Additionally, participants will help shape the vision for the Green Between, defining how public spaces can continue to nurture and be nurtured in the future of San Francisco.

Mingling and Refreshments (12-1 PM)
What to Expect

• Mindful cleanup in Portola's parks and public spaces 🌳
• Facilitated meditations (both still 靜 and movement 動) 🧘
• Contemplative and creative activities (e.g., painting Care Stones, making seed bombs, reflecting on communal care) 🎨

• Public Transportation:
  • MUNI Bus Lines: 8 Bayshore, 8AX/8BX Bayshore Express, 9 San Bruno, 9R San Bruno Rapid, 44 O’Shaughnessy
  • BART: Take BART to Glen Park Station, then switch to the eastbound 44 MUNI bus
• Parking: Free and metered street parking available along San Bruno Ave, Burrows St, and Bacon St.

Accessibility & Considerations

• Burrows Pocket Park is fully wheelchair, stroller, and mobility-aid accessible.
