Born in Tokyo and musically nurtured in the vibrant city of New York, Yayoi brings a unique voice fashioned by her diverse cultural experiences. Her mastery spans an impressive array of genres, including Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Hip-Hop, Classical, African, and Caribbean music, embodying the essence of her heritage and her rich cosmopolitan upbringing. 🎶
Yayoi believes in harnessing music as a transformative force for human connection and understanding. With this vision, she established The Bridge Project, an initiative aimed at creating meaningful musical dialogues among varied communities and traditions. 🔗
Her extensive collaborative repertoire features an array of renowned artists and ensembles such as legendary bassist Reggie Workman, vibraphonist Michael Carvin, saxophonist Howard Johnson, pianist Michal Urbaniak, and many more! 🎷✨ She has also graced the stages of St. Paul Baptist Church in Montclair, NJ and the International Jazz and Dance Academy in Slovenia, where she shared her passion through performance and education.
