What to Expect:
Join us on this trek to the iconic Heart Rock, hidden away on the McKelligon saddle! This off-trail, 2-mile loop hike is challenging to strenuous, featuring breathtaking scenery. Get ready for a cardiac workout as you navigate steep grades and uneven terrain. Heart Rock is a hidden gem in El Paso that few ever reach. 📸 Enjoy photo ops at two caves along the route!

Terrain:
Rocky, uneven with plenty of desert life. It's a good idea to wear long sleeves and a pair of hiking shoes with good grip.

Event Details:

• Location: Ron Coleman Trailhead, McKelligon Canyon
• Time: Arrive and park by 6am, be ready to go at 6:10am

What to Bring:

• Water (2-3 liters minimum)
• Closed-toed hiking shoes
• Hiking poles (if you have them)
• A good hat for sun protection
• Snacks
• Any necessary medications
• Electrolytes (optional)

What Not to Bring:

• Pets
• First-time hikers
• Anyone unfamiliar with off-trail hiking

Fee:
Free for teens and those with a parking pass or $5.
