Isaiah Collier "Collier Plays Coltrane" in Toronto at Hugh's Room Live
Join us for an extraordinary evening at the Toronto Jazz Festival featuring Isaiah Collier in his celebrated performance, “Collier Plays Coltrane.” This event marks a special tribute to the jazz legend John Coltrane's centennial.
🎶 Isaiah Collier is recognized as one of the most exhilarating voices in contemporary jazz, seamlessly blending rich historical traditions with a dynamic, modern urgency. Dubbed a maverick of creative improvisation, he has collaborated with jazz icons such as Kahil El’Zabar, Ambrose Akinmusire, Craig Taborn, Joe Dyson, and Azar Lawrence, alongside NEA Jazz Masters like Billy Hart, Marshall Allen, and Denardo Coleman (son of the pioneering free jazz artist Ornette Coleman).
A distinguished member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), Collier proudly continues the legacy of Chicago’s tenor saxophone tradition. His innovation has garnered recognition from DownBeat Magazine, who crowned him as “The Next Sax Giant”—a fitting accolade for an artist dedicated to transforming the soundscape of modern jazz.
