James Lick Legacy Day: 150 Years of Discovery
Join us to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Lick Observatory at the Chabot Space & Science Center! 🌠
In 2026, we honor James Lick’s extraordinary contribution that led to the establishment of the world’s largest telescope at the time, alongside Anthony Chabot’s legacy that formed the foundation of our modern astronomical explorations.
With the original celebration planned atop Mount Hamilton facing unforeseen challenges, we adapt and continue this tradition of accessible science at Chabot!
🌟 Event Highlights:
- Special Planetarium presentation by Alex Filippenko, Distinguished Professor of Astronomy at UC Berkeley, titled “Research, Technology, and Education at Lick Observatory, and its Shared History with Chabot.”
- Enjoy a light reception and, weather permitting, telescope viewing through Chabot’s historic telescopes! 🔭
🔓 Tickets: Just $20 ($15 for Members).
