John Pizzarelli Presents "Dear Mr. Bennett"

When Tony Bennett passed away in July 2023, the music world lost an icon. Few artists have impacted various styles and eras quite like Bennett, connecting figures such as Frank Sinatra, Bill Evans, Willie Nelson, and Lady Gaga. For world-renowned guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli, Bennett represented so much more than an influence. Pizzarelli's father, the legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, was a frequent sideman for Bennett, appearing on classic albums like To My Wonderful One (1960) and I’ve Gotta Be Me (1969).

Pizzarelli had the honor of accompanying Bennett during a memorable radio broadcast. Their mutual admiration was evident, as Bennett attended several of Pizzarelli's performances, even sketching his likeness on two occasions. The charming artwork gracing the cover of Pizzarelli’s heartfelt tribute album, Dear Mr. Bennett, was created during an engagement at Feinstein’s nightclub in New York City.

Set to release on March 3, 2026, via Green Hill Music, Dear Mr. Bennett is both a farewell to a profoundly influential musician and a celebration arriving just in time for Bennett's centennial on August 3rd. A five-song EP will follow on August 7th, featuring renditions of songs made famous by Bennett throughout his remarkable seven-decade career.

Pizzarelli, alongside his trio featuring bassist Mike Karn and pianist Isaiah J. Thompson, will be touring globally to perform this repertoire throughout 2026 and into 2027.

Pizzarelli describes Bennett’s artistry as magnificent. "He was able to continually reinvent himself," he noted, transitioning from a pop singer in the ‘60s to a superstar all over again in the MTV era.

The album opens with a lively rendition of Michel Legrand’s Watch What Happens, followed by the joyous The Best is Yet to Come. Featured songs include:
