Performing as a one-woman punk band named Stina Force, the Swedish-born artist Stina Fors electrifies the stage with high-energy drumming, erratic spoken-word monologues, and song. With a taste for the absurd and the strange, the choreographer and drummer creates works that move between dance, theater, music and experimental performance. Her improvised and site-specific pieces draw from a rich repertoire of tactics to manipulate the audience’s mood and attention. Direct address and seemingly spontaneous remarks become a commentary on the performer’s emotional outpouring that unfolds before the audience’s eyes. At once magnetic and repellent, her screams echo beyond caricature and catharsis.
