performance activation
on the evening of june 10, outlines for a dispersed commons at gmtc continues with a performance activation by artist lucia reissig.
the project, a necessity, a form, is an appreciation of the domestic realm as a magical state, exploring the idea of utilitarian sculpture. inspired by the relational objects of Lygia Clark, the work approaches everyday-domestic objects as activated potentialities: forms that only acquire meaning through interaction and embodied experience. Brazilian psychoanalyst and theorist Suely Rolnik describes Clark’s relational objects as devices that disarticulate traditional art practices, transforming them into therapeutic and micropolitical tools.
for this performance, reissig proposes a temporary space where touch, exchange, and collective presence reconfigure our relationship to everyday objects, allowing the domestic sphere and what shapes it to emerge as a site of affective transformation and shared sensorial experience. central to the performance is the everyday utility of the spoon. through the performative act, the rhizomatic spoons become agents of vibrant intimacy, unsettling habitual relations between bodies and things: vehicles that hold space for multiple eaters.
