Lunchbox Lecture: After the Children’s Blizzard – The Life and Legacy of Minnie Mae Freeman

Join us for an enlightening discussion on the remarkable life of Minnie Mae Freeman, who is celebrated for her bravery in saving her pupils during the infamous Schoolhouse Blizzard of 1888. Yet, many of her significant contributions to Nebraska have faded from memory.

On July 21, from noon to 1 PM, at the Nebraska History Museum, Amber Kirkendall from the Homestead National Historic Park in Beatrice will explore Freeman’s life, her efforts in promoting civic values post-Blizzard, and her involvement with the Daughters of the American Revolution, including her design of the Nebraska state seal.
