MELT Event: Listening Session – Holy Defiance with Angie Pittman

Join us for the final MELT Event of the summer! 🌞 Experience a unique Listening Session featuring Angie Pittman’s debut album, Holy Defiance.

Originally premiering in June 2024, Pittman’s acclaimed multidisciplinary performance project, Black Life Chord Changes, showcased at The Chocolate Factory Theater (NY). This project seamlessly transformed into a vinyl album released in October 2025.

Holy Defiance explores the sacred nature of Black resistance through pagan gospel blues. It highlights the profound impact of embodied resistance, combining recorded songs from various performances (2020-2025) with field recordings of improvisational scores. This immersive listening experience serves as a meditative practice while paying homage to rich cultural traditions.
