Must Farm Weekend Workshop

Join us for an immersive journey into the fascinating world of the late Bronze Age at one of the UK's most significant archaeological sites, Must Farm! 🌍✨ This unique workshop will be led by project archaeologist Dr. Chris Wakefield from the Cambridge Archaeological Unit, who has been directly involved in the groundbreaking excavations that have captured international attention.

Throughout the weekend, you'll:

• Discover: Start with an insightful talk from Dr. Wakefield about the incredible archaeological finds at Must Farm. 📜🔍
• Create: Split into two groups to engage in hands-on activities:
  • Group 1: Work with Dr. James Dilley to cast your own late Bronze Age-style socketed axe head and craft a wooden handle using Bronze Age techniques. 🪵⚒️
  • Group 2: Join Emma Jones to create replicas of the Must Farm bead assemblages using oil shale, amber, and stone. Carve and polish beads as they were made 3000 years ago! 💎✂️

After switching activities on the second day, you'll leave with your very own hafted bronze axe and beautiful bead replicas, along with a richer understanding of the skills and lives of Bronze Age people.

Participant Information

PPE will be provided for all crafting activities, but please wear durable trousers and sturdy footwear. Once you register, full details will follow.
