
Native Plant Festival
Celebrate the start of summer at the 5th Annual Native Plant Festival, presented by Wayside Furniture! Discover how to create a thriving habitat for wildlife by incorporating beautiful, beneficial native plants into your landscape. Meet Summit Metro Parks staff, local nurseries, landscapers and community partners to learn about the vital role native plants play in our ecosystem. Shop a wide selection of native plants for sale or join an educational session for expert tips on native gardening. Visitors will receive a FREE seedling or seed packet, while supplies last.------------------------------------------------------------------------Enjoy the following educational sessions during the festival:• 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. | Moon Gardening for Nocturnal Creatures• 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. & 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. | Gardening in the Shade: Natives That Will Thrive------------------------------------------------------------------------Additionally, visitors can enjoy live music by Jen Maurer & Bill Lestock (10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) and Victor Samalot (12:45 – 3 p.m.). Food will be available for purchase from Cado Cado Taco, Henry’s Creamery (gluten-free and vegan options available) and Rabbit Food (vegan). The event will conclude with a nature-inspired performance by ArtSparks.Why should we grow native plants? Humans are a part of nature, too. When our surrounding ecosystem is healthy, it helps us thrive as well. Together, we can provide habitats for our wildlife to counteract the effects of habitat loss and habitat fragmentation.
