No Coyntry for Old Men - New Art From New York and Other Places Part XVII

Sobre el evento

Gallery Poulsen proudly presents No Country for Old Men – New Art From New York and Other Places, Part XVII!

“That is no country for old men. The young In one another's arms, birds in the trees, – Those dying generations – at their song.”
— William Butler Yeats, Sailing to Byzantium (1928)

Join us for our annual summer exhibition, a highlight of the art calendar, showcasing the latest strides in contemporary art from major cultural capitals around the globe.

Returning to our tradition, we draw inspiration from the title of a classic American film. While many recognize No Country for Old Men as the Coen brothers' Academy Award-winning adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's work, its origins lie in Yeats’ poignant poem, illuminating our theme of transformation and uncertainty.

In a world where established values are continually challenged, this exhibition offers a space to explore art's role during such transitions. With geopolitical shifts, technological advancements, and a general sense of unpredictability, art becomes a vital dialogue that reflects our realities rather than providing concrete answers.

This year’s collection features artists from diverse backgrounds and stages in their careers, each presenting unique perspectives on identity, memory, and adaptation in a rapidly changing landscape.

Together, they create a compelling portrait of our times, where every voice contributes to the conversation on how we navigate the currents of change. Join us in celebrating this vibrant tapestry of contemporary figurative art, where hope, creativity, and new visions for the future intersect.
