Oh Pseudolus! – Cockpit Theatre

This is a modern retelling of the classic Roman Comedy "PSEUDOLUS" by Plautus. In this adaptation, the titular Pseudolus is employed at the world's largest Halloumi company in modern-day Athens. Working as an executive assistant for the CEO's son, Calidorous, she finds herself entangled in a comedic rescue mission when the vile pimp Ballio tries to sell Calidorous's love interest, the beautiful Phoenecium, into sex slavery. Heartbroken and unable to sign Pseudolus's end-of-year bonus check, Calidorous leaves it to her to save Phoenecium and earn her well-deserved payday.

This laugh-out-loud comedy is packed with hijinks, tricks, love, lies, and schemes, alongside a slice of Halloumi or two along the way. It's as entertaining today as it was two thousand years ago! This is “Oh NO Productions” way of saying: Leave the kids at home, and no, you don’t need to come wearing a toga.

“Oh Pseudolus!” features a standout cast:

Greta Bellamacina, celebrated director and actress, leads as Pseudolus. Written specifically with her in mind, her performance guarantees a comedic tour de force. Rebecca Hazlewood stars as Charinus, the charming best friend of Calidorous, bringing her signature energy and charisma to the role, making her a lovable companion everyone wants.

All this mayhem springs from the writing and directing duo Conor Bifulco and Dalton Scott, known for “Oh Hillary!,” a comedy at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe. “Oh Pseudolus!” manages to preserve the essence of the original play while infusing it with modern comedic sensibilities.
