A Beginner-Friendly Instructed Painting Class in Burbank

Welcome to Artskool — an intimate, curated oil painting experience held at the instructor's private residence nestled in the charming equestrian district of Burbank. Whether you're brand new to painting or looking to deepen your skills, this two-session series is designed to guide you through creating a truly finished, detailed still life painting from life.

🖼️ About the Series

Over the course of two sessions, students will work from the same carefully arranged and lit still life setup — featuring a beautiful mix of fruits, fabrics, and ceramic or metallic objects chosen for their variety of texture and color. The slower, more deliberate pace means you'll have the time and space to develop a polished, gallery-worthy piece.

📅 Session Breakdown

Day 1 — Sketching the still life composition and laying in your first pass of color.

Day 2 — Deepening your color mixing, refining earlier work, and adding all the finishing details to complete your painting.

👩🏽‍🎨 What You'll Learn

Techniques inspired by the Renaissance Masters in the tradition of classical realism
Foundational oil painting methods — perfect as a launchpad for developing your own unique style
Color mixing, layering, and how to observe and translate light and texture onto canvas

Your instructor will be live-demoing alongside you the entire time, while also offering personalized, individual feedback throughout each session.

🏡 Location: Private residence in the equestrian neighborhood of Burbank — exact address shared after registration. Plenty of street parking available. Enter through the brown gate, which opens 10 minutes before class begins.

Tanya is a professional illustrator and storyboard artist with over a decade of experience in film and advertising. She has studied oil painting at renowned studios across Los Angeles and Florence, Italy, and brings that wealth of knowledge and passion into every class. Her mission? To make the joy of painting accessible to anyone willing to pick up a brush.
