Open Day - Free Park Tennis Activators - Belair Park

We are hosting an Open Day for those interested in becoming a Free Park Tennis Activator in parks around Southwark. We are currently recruiting for volunteers in Burgess Park, Southwark Park, Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, Brunswick Park, Dulwich Park and Belair Park.

Time - 9.30am - 11am
Location - Belair Park Tennis Courts
Please wear sports attire and bring along your tennis racket, however there will also be spares available.
What can I expect from the Open Day?
9.30am - 10am: Welcome and Q&A with existing volunteers
10am - 11am: Observe and participate in a Free Park Tennis session
What is a Free Park Tennis volunteer and what is expected of a volunteer?
Free Park Tennis volunteers work together to plan and lead fun activities on court as well as collaborating with venues and operators to get more people active and enjoy tennis with free weekly sessions.
What is the level of commitment expected from volunteers?
It's up to you! It could be once a month, once a week or whenever your schedule allows. We run sessions across the Southwark borough at Burgess Park, Belair Park, Southwark Park, Dulwich Park and Geraldine Mary Harsworth on Saturdays or Sundays at 10am. Each session requires two volunteers to support up to 16 players on two tennis courts.
What do I have to do ahead of the Open Day?
Nothing. Just show up with your tennis attire and rackets! But if you want to get ahead, you can create an account at https://www.lta.org.uk/roles-and-venues/volunteers/free-park-tennis/ to start on the online training, safeguarding course and DBS process. The sooner you complete the training, the sooner we can get you out on the courts.
Do volunteers get anything in return?
All volunteers will receive training and a free hoodie. In addition, Southwark Council has agreed to grant free memberships to active volunteers enabling volunteers to discounted court bookings in the borough.
