The Magic of Opera on Six Strings

​Opera Intimi – an evening where the grandeur of the operatic stage gives way to the sincerity of a single instrument. We are used to perceiving opera as a magnificent spectacle with a large ensemble and elaborate sets. But what remains when we strip away the excess and leave only the soul of the music?

​In this program, the operatic stories of Verdi, Rossini, and Mozart unfold through brilliant fantasies and variations, performed by guitar virtuoso Artem Pozdniakov. This is music that transforms the guitar into a "small orchestra."

​The highlight of the program will be the world premiere of a new work by Oleg Boyko. In his Sonata Fantasy, this contemporary Ukrainian composer offers a unique perspective on motifs from the famous Ukrainian opera Natalka Poltavka by Mykola Lysenko.

​About the Artist

Artem Pozdniakov is a Ukrainian classical guitarist, educator, and artist. He works primarily in the genre of classical music, sometimes turning to the sources of folk art and jazz. His work is aimed at revealing beauty in art and realizing the essence of beauty through the exploration of musical works through the prism of aesthetic and philosophical contexts in close connection with other art forms. He studied at the S. Lyudkevych Lviv Music College, the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, and under the Erasmus+ program at the Maastricht Conservatory.
