Overspill delves into what it means to write from the self in an age where personal narratives are omnipresent—demanded by institutions, shaped by platforms, and commodified as authenticity.
This symposium unites writers and artists across fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, exploring the politics and poetics surrounding the act of writing the self while interrogating what transcends individual experience:
oppression, labor, class, injury, care, infrastructure, and the very conditions that render a life narratable.
Through engaging discussions, thought-provoking workshops, and an open mic that reanimates collective archives, we will center practices of listening and recognize the ‘auto’ as inherently plural.
Join us in examining how individual narratives can transform into shared methodologies.
Traversing themes of:
- inheritance & fabulation
- madness
- imperialism
- ecologies
- trans collectivities
and more, Overspill investigates the power of self-writing in forging solidarities and envisioning alternate realities.
