Public-private partnerships to accelerate the ClimateTech ecosystem

Sobre el evento

The transition to a climate-neutral economy has become one of the greatest economic, technological and political challenges of our time. Europe has taken on a global leadership role in this transformation, driving ambitious regulatory frameworks — such as the European Green Deal, the European Taxonomy and new climate finance instruments — with the aim of mobilising capital and accelerating the technological innovation needed to achieve climate neutrality. Against this historic backdrop, the development of the ClimateTech ecosystem stands at a crucial juncture.
Over the past decade, a first wave of investment in climate technologies has emerged, enabling the emergence of new start-ups and technological solutions capable of transforming key sectors such as energy, mobility, agriculture and the circular economy. However, the current challenge lies in scaling up these solutions, accelerating their industrial deployment and ensuring that the capital needed for this transition flows at the required pace. To achieve this, it is essential to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors. Public institutions, development banks, innovation agencies and investment funds play a complementary role in reducing risks, mobilising private capital and creating the conditions that enable scaling up climate tech in Europe.
This roundtable will bring together key representatives to discuss how to strengthen this collaboration at a pivotal moment for the European climate tech ecosystem.
Panel 1 – Building the financial architecture of European climate tech - The role of public institutions in mobilising capital, reducing risks and accelerating climate innovation.
Jaime Vera, Senior Investment Manager – Innovation & Technology Investments, Impact Investing at the European Investment Fund
Cristina Barbudo Gomez, Deputy Director of FOND-ICO Global and FOND-ICOpyme
Emili Gomez, Investment Director at Institut Català de Finances (ICF)
Moderated by : Alex Pardo, GP de Inclimo Climate Tech y DG de energia en Sorigue
Panel 2 - From climate innovation to industrial leadership - How to scale climate technologies from Europe to global markets.
José María García, Head of Business Development at Sociedad Española para la Transformación Tecnológica (SETT)
Laurent Arens, Investment Director at BStartup, Banco Sabadell
Cristina Alonso Alija, Director of the UNIJES Reference Research Centre in Environment and Ecology
Moderated by: Mariluz Castilla, Fundadora del Grupo Español para el Crecimiento Verde y Presidentea del Consejo Asesor de Impacto de Suma Capital
Following the roundtable, led by Michael Langguth, Carbon13 will present a selection of its portfolio companies through a series pitches showcasing innovative Climate Tech solutions addressing key decarbonisation challenges.
Selected companies will be the following:
FloatSync: FloatSync is a decentralised recycling technology that transforms mismanaged plastic waste into high-value recycled materials anywhere in the world. Its mobile, containerised system separates up to six plastic types with up to 99% accuracy, enabling low-cost local recycling in regions without infrastructure.
Havenwise: Havenwise is a smart heat pump that automatically optimises your heating and hot water based on your energy tariff, the weather, and how your home heats up.
Tetrax AI: Tetrax AI automates due diligence and risk assessment for renewable energy developers and investors, delivering results 100x faster and 10x cheaper than traditional processes. The platform combines AI with full legal traceability, accelerating the deployment of clean energy projects.
Nada: Nada is a clean-tech company transforming agricultural surplus into high-performance cosmetic ingredients, founded by Francesco Persivale and MJ. Using a green extraction process, the team upcycles by-products of farmers in Latin America from fruit processing, including avocado, pomegranate, and citrus, into traceable, circular beauty ingredients.
Mozaic Earth: Mozaic Earth: Mozaic Earth gives regulated asset owners, utilities, mining companies and infrastructure operators decision-grade intelligence on the nature risks embedded in their land portfolios. By combining ground-truth data collection, satellite analysis and AI, Mozaic replaces expensive, slow consultant-led assessments with continuous, audit-ready risk intelligence at portfolio scale. Customers include Thames Water, GSK and Eramet.

The event will conclude with a networking cocktail and catering reception, creating an opportunity for investors, founders and ecosystem leaders to connect, exchange ideas and foster new collaborations within the European Climate Tech ecosystem.
