In this insightful lecture, we delve into listening as a crucial political and ethical practice, viewing sound as a medium of agency, responsibility, and solidarity. Elia will discuss how listening can shape our social relations, distribute attention, and influence our shared existence.
By integrating concepts from sound studies, political theory, and performance, this talk investigates:
Drawing from Elia's artistic experiences, including the Symposium Musicum project — a social sound experiment bridging Romani and non-Romani communities through collective listening — and the Republika Zahradníiíiíiíiíi project by the performance group Ferst Dadler, we'll explore themes of acoustic justice and the dynamics of voice amplification.
