Robot Brunch Hackathon with UFactory & Viam

Join us for a unique experience at Viam and build your very own robot! 🎉

About the Event

Not your typical brunch club or robotics workshop! We’re thrilled to offer a hands-on morning for curious and ambitious builders eager to explore real-world robotics. You’ll have the chance to:

• Control a robot arm 🤖
• Train your own perception model
• Deploy it on a real robot.

What You'll Build

Work with a partner to create an end-to-end robotics application using Viam and a UFactory xArm. Each pair will have:

• UFactory X-ARM with a two-finger gripper attachment
• Linux compute machine
• RealSense D435 or Orbbec Astra 2 camera
• A free Viam account.

We’ll provide blocks, cups, pens, paper, and more for your robot to interact with, or feel free to bring your own items! 🧩

What Skills You Need

No prior robotics experience is needed, but familiarity with the following is helpful:

• Coding: Python, Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, or C++
• Linux: Basic terminal commands
• JSON: Reading and editing configuration files.

Please bring your own laptop. 💻

Schedule

• 9:30 AM: Check-in, breakfast & partner formation
• 10:00 AM: Welcome & crash course on building with Viam
• 10:30 AM: Start building with your robot arm
• 12:00 PM: Lunch 🍽️
• 1:30 PM: Closing discussions & project sharing
• 2:00 PM: Event concludes
