Join a welcoming community of writers for a focused hour of getting words on the page! Writing alongside fellow writers has proven surprisingly effective — come find out for yourself.

📝 What is it?

Whether you're working on a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, résumé, melody, poem, or even everyday work tasks — you're warmly invited to write alongside others. Nobody will peek at your work or offer unsolicited feedback. This is simply about showing up and actually writing, instead of just thinking about writing.

🗓️ How it works

• 💬 Warm-up — A few minutes of hellos, getting settled, and optional quick introductions
• ⏱️ Writing time — The timer starts and everyone writes for a full hour
• 🎉 After the session — Chat, head off, or keep writing if you're in the flow!

🤝 Optional Socializing

Once the writing hour wraps up, there's an opportunity to connect and mingle. Writing can be a solitary pursuit, so sharing that experience — and sometimes even commiserating — with fellow writers is a genuinely rewarding bonus.

⏰ Running late?

No worries! Latecomers are absolutely welcome. Simply arrive, get settled, and check in with the group after the session. Look out for the small Shut Up & Write! sign. If you arrived on time, please be ready to make space for friendly latecomers.

🎒 What to bring?

• Whatever you need to write — laptop, notebook, pen, typewriter... you name it!
• 🎧 Earbuds or earplugs if you'd like to tune out café background music or ambient conversation
