Shut Up & Write!™ West LA - Cafe Laurent - Mar Vista

Join us for an hour (or even up to ninety minutes) of focused writing! 📚

No matter what you're working on—be it fiction, non-fiction, poetry, memoir, PR, or script writing—come along and immerse yourself in creativity with fellow like-minded writers at Cafe Laurent, located at 12034 Venice Blvd., Mar Vista, Los Angeles.

Enjoy writing in the lovely covered patio area of the cafe. We kick things off at 10:00 AM, so aim to arrive a few minutes early to grab a yummy treat or breakfast and get comfortable. The writing session will wrap up around 11:00, 11:15, or 11:30 AM (subject to attendees' preferences). Afterward, feel free to share a few sentences of your work, followed by an open forum for any writerly questions or discussions about struggles and successes. 🤝

SCHEDULE:

• 9:50 AM - Intros / Greetings / Get Settled
• 10:00 AM - Timer starts: write for the designated time
• Finish - Share your sentences if you wish, chat, or stay a bit longer to continue writing.

Being late or leaving early is absolutely okay; there's no need for apologies! We’re a casual, friendly group and are delighted to have you join us—no RSVP is necessary, just show up! 🎉

NOTE: There’s no internet access at the cafe, so please be ready with a hotspot or personal web connection. Our MeetUp is only cancelled on ALL Monday holidays.

A nearby parking lot is available on the corner of Grand View and Venice (though it’s a bit pricier than street parking), and paid street parking options are also available.
